Overview

This scheme brings together the farmhouse, cottage, barn and granary at Dean Farm, Longbottom Lane, all Grade II listed, as one house. The historic core of the farmhouse is retained and repaired, a later unsympathetic rear extension is removed, and a glazed link connects the farmhouse to the cottage. The barn is fully restored and repurposed with a glazed element added, and the granary is restored and brought back into use.

New extensions and links are detailed with thin roof profiles and unobtrusive structural elements, recessed behind simple planes of glazing so that the historic buildings read clearly between them. A new garage block replaces the earlier garage, set back into the raised landscaped area.

Gross internal floor area is 1,077 sqm.
